In the darkness, the bright star of hope yet shines.
At Epiphany Mental Health, you’ll find a partner for your journey towards hope.
Epiphany Mental Health was founded on the belief that access to quality mental health services should be a right, and not a privilege. To make mental health care more accessible and more affordable, sessions are offered both in person and online to residents of South Dakota and Montana with evening and weekend sessions available. There are also limited slots for those without insurance and needing a sliding fee scale.
What to Expect
An epiphany (ee-PIF-ah-nee) is often defined as the moment when you suddenly feel that you understand, or suddenly become conscious of, something that is very important to you. Others think of it as an illuminating discovery, or sudden manifestation, of the essential nature or meaning of something.
At Epiphany Mental Health, you can expect me to serve as your personal G.P.S. towards discovering and experiencing your own epiphany. As your G.P.S., I’m your guide while you remain in the driver’s seat. You set the pace. While some have a destination in mind and want to get there as efficiently as possible, others prefer when the journey unfolds in its own way and learn more from taking side trips. No matter what you prefer, I’ll be there to help you find your way.
Regardless of your preferred pace, when you choose to work with me, you can expect:
Someone who is authentic
I have a lousy poker face and I tend to think while staring up at the ceiling. Part of my authenticity means that I also bring transparency into every session.
Someone who uses “irreverent communication”
I’m a real person who recognizes there are times to be serious as well as light-hearted, and that there are times to call out behaviors that get in the way – hopefully with humor.
Someone who will strive to keep you on track
While the occasional side trip is both necessary and welcome, you’re in therapy because you want to change something in your life. If I don’t keep you on track, I’m not doing you any favors. Please remember that therapy is for a season, it is not a lifetime commitment!

Let me introduce myself. I’m Patricia Helmer Aurand and I go by either “Patricia” or “Patti” – depending on the day. I’m originally from South Dakota and returned to my hometown in 2017 after living in a variety of states ending in “a”.
